It's not just a house. It's a home

A 'Welcome' doormat

When Breyer group was established in 1956 it had a clear mission - to improve the lives of our community and make a long lasting difference to the people who's lives we touch.

Over half a century later we have the same mission, and over the years - just as our staff and communities have become richer and more diverse, so our working practices have evolved and improved to reflect the ever changing needs of individuals and groups.

Now with a 300 strong team, it's all about best practice and forward thinking employment practices. Equality and diversity best practices are engrained into our culture and we take great pride in the diversity of our staff

Everyone is certain of their roles and levels of responsibility, lines of communication are clear and upward communication is welcomed by senior managers. There are opportunities for people to remain engaged with the business and help to influence and shape policies and practices that affect their daily lives, e.g. our Policy Development Working Group which meets monthly and is always well attended by a cross section of staff as well as our Suggestion Scheme which encourages staff to reduce our impact on the environment, avoid duplication of work, make best use of available resources and make improvements to customer satisfaction levels.

The board meet with all new staff and describe the history and future of the company as well as asking new staff for their first impressions of the business. The board undertake regular walkabouts in the office and on site and discuss day to day issues and make themselves available to answer questions or listen to feedback. This way staff feel in touch and in the loop about all aspects of the business and feel they can really make a difference.
